Paul Milner
Advanced Craftsman in Carpentry & Joinery.
Paul’s career began in 1987 with an almost star studded leap into the Construction Industry. One of his first glass cabinets produced was viewed by over 17 million people daily as it appeared in the corner shop of a long-standing British TV soap, Coronation Street.
At the tender age of 17 Paul’s U.K apprenticeship in Carpentry & Joinery began. Entering the construction industry in the 1980’s meant his generation was trained in both traditional and modern methods. As a young apprentice, the traditional time-honoured craft of building and manufacturing primarily with hand-held tools was practiced. However as Paul grew within the construction industry and in order to keep up with modern times, he was also entrusted to bring innovation into his work place. Mass production meant modern methods such as the computer generated CNC machines were introduced which began to impact workshops everywhere.
Traditional values are important to Paul. Therefore, he remained employed for 15 years with the same U.K company who supported him not only throughout his time-served apprenticeship and Certificate 3 in Carpentry and Joinery, but also his further educational development as he continued to study until he reached the highest level possible; an Advanced Craft (Diploma) in Carpentry & Joinery, Certificate 3 in Building Studies, Certificate 3 in Electrical Installation and varied Effective Managerial Development Courses.
In those 15 years Paul’s diverse experience in all aspects of Carpentry and Joinery allowed him to grow from a young apprentice into a tradesman who manufactured and installed to all required specifications. It wasn’t long before he combined his craftsman background with the skilled role of Senior Project Manager. This successful combination of Carpentry, Joinery & Project Management indicated that Paul could be entrusted with some of the largest projects the company has seen. One such project was the fit-out of the Players Lounges, VIP Lounges and the Press Lounge at Wimbledon Tennis Courts. The Players Lounge would seat historic names such as John McEnroe, Pete Sampras & Martina Navratilova. As the Project & Site Manager Paul was required to work to a lucrative budget, fixed deadlines and extremely high standards.
With additional skills in Specialised Woodworking Paul was also sought out for the production of hand-carved moulds for the purpose of manufacturing Rolls Royce engines, missiles for the Euro Fighter and the fastest casino chip machine at its time. His advanced craft qualification in carpentry & joinery meant precision engineering could be achieved as this intricate type of carpentry worked to a 0.1mm tolerance.
Extensive knowledge and experience across all trades in Carpentry, Joinery, Specialised Craft, Curved Wood Working, Corian Fabrication and all aspects of Internal Fit-Outs, Renovations, Installations, Refurbishments and Restorations makes Paul a highly efficient craftsman and effective Project Manager. His experience awarded him one of the first contracts in the UK for fabricating and installing DuPont Corian bench-tops for the McDonald’s Restaurants food chain, counter tops for Service Stations UK wide and specialised curved bars throughout the UK Hilton Hotel chain.
When the time came to develop into a business entrepreneur, in 2002, Paul began his own company which was a huge success, until the decision was made to sell the company in 2015 in order to relocate to Australia.
On arriving to Australia in 2016 Paul almost immediately became the Central Coast Senior Project Manager for an Office Fit-Out Company. Today, CKJM Projects continues to manufacture, install and project manage all aspects of the construction industry and across the residential and commercial sectors. Paul is an Australian Licensed Contractor in Carpentry & Joinery and has obtained all Australian Health and Safety legal requirements.
